DESCRIPTION
Clinical Significance
Serum alkaline phosphatase (AP) is found in almost all body tissues. It is manufactured by bone (40 to 70 percent), liver, intestine and placenta.
As an enzyme of secretion, AP is constantly and rapidly released from the cell into the interstitial area and then into the serum.
Class1 - Tissue unspecific (liver, bone, renal)
Class 3 - Placental
Class 4 - Fetal intestine

Isopal™ Plus Alkaline
Phosphatase Isoenzyme Kit
The Isopal™ Plus electrophoresis method provides distinct separation of all AP isoenzymes in one easy to use,
reproducible, high-volume procedure. The distinct patterns resulting from the Isopal™ Plus method are especially useful in differentiating bone and liver fractions when diagnosing bone and liver diseases.
Isopal's unique gel/buffer combination ensures superior resolution and sensitivity, which aids in the detection of intestinal fractions and atypical variants, while its colorimetric methodology provides a permanent, visible record
for quantification and archiving.
Additionally, the Isopal™ Plus kit offers confirmatory reagent (Neuraminidase, Anti-placental Antibody and Ficin), which enhance the differentiating process by allowing separation of bands that would otherwise co-migrate.
