This state-of-the-ART ESCO incubator captures images of embryo development every 5 minutes per well, allowing embryologists to monitor embryo cleavage and development rates over 5 days, without having them removed from the controlled environment created in the 6 individual culture chambers.
ESCO MIRI Incubator and NEW stacking frame at Anatolia IVF Center in Ankara, Turkey.
Being a clinician, what I believe is that 80% of success or failure of an IVF treatment cycles is from the lab! Optimum in-vitro culture condition is indispensable to achieve highest live birth rates in an IVF Lab. We recently purchased 2 Miri benchtop incubators and we are very happy using them. Having monitored the cleavage and blastulation rates of the 6 lids, they appear to be consistent. We also recently commenced to offer liberal PGS (trophoectoderm biopsy) for advanced maternal age cases and very happy with the first results; in this context provision of good in vitro culture conditions with these incubators have greatly contributed. The last point is that MedikalTim, the Turkish distributor, has designed a cheap but very useful stand with a drawer system to put 3 Miri incubators on top of each other to save from the space; very and very good job!
Professor Hakan Yaralı, MD Anatolia IVF and Women’s Health Center Ankara, Turkey
The Stanford University Medical Center has among the best IVF results in the US, with over 1000 cycles being done a year, with mostly on a mix of D3 and D5 transfers. Dr. Barry Behr, director of the said Laboratory, believes that giving the embryos the optimum culture environment is the key to a better IVF success rates.
It is for this reasons that the clinic chose to install three Miri® benchtop units because of the benefits of its overall design which provides cultured embryos a minimum-stress environment. The 6-chamber format prevents cross-contamination while HEPA filtration cleans the airstream. The small chamber volumes and direct heat regulation further translate to faster temperature and gas recovery.
Dr. Behr said, “Common stressors identified are fluctuations in both temperature and gas concentration parameters and non-optimal pH. If the embryos are allowed to grow in this kind of environment, it will have a detrimental impact on its development which could lead to poor outcomes. And we don’t want that to happen.”
He further said, by keeping these three parameters at a stable level, we are giving the embryos the optimum environment they need for them to develop very well and not trying to adapt to these stressors.
Dr. Barry Behr is currently a professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility) at the Stanford University Medical Center. He holds several publications related to IVF with current research interests in the development of improved embryo culture conditions in-vitro and in improving IVF outcome.

Short video demonstration on how to prepare the CultureCoin for the Miri Time-Lapse incubator. The CultureCoin is a proprietary device designed with fourteen (14) individual culture wells for embryo culture.
The right procedure of preparation of the CultureCoin is essential to avoid bubble formation. It is recommended to pre-incubate the CultureCoin inside a humid incubator prior to using it for embryo incubation.
